You are determined to hold women responsible for birth control. Well, good news for you! That’s exactly how it works in our current world. The burden of birth control, the effects of birth control, and the consequences of failed birth control, are almost entirely on women. My essay attempts to show the imbalance, by shifting the conversation to focus on men.

You want to talk about personal responsibility of men and women as far as birth control goes? Super. Women win this by a thousand miles. You know this. I know this. Everyone knows this.

Why are you pushing so hard against the idea that men could (and should) take on more of the responsibility of birth control? Why is asking men to wear condoms, and be responsible for their ejaculate, a hard thing?

Lastly, if a man has HIV, and knows this, and infects another person with HIV via sex, that’s considered a crime. Even if the sex was consensual. So, if a man has sex with a woman without a condom, or without a vasectomy, and his sperm does harm to the woman’s body by causing an unwanted pregnancy, would you say that’s also a crime?
